Youth Education
RCC educators reach thousands of students at middle and high schools across Dane County every year. The RCC Building Safer Communities curriculum is a three part educational series covering a wide variety of content areas including consent, healthy relationships & boundaries, supporting survivors, bystander intervention, & more.
We recommend bringing us in for more than one session! Research confirms that multiple doses of content are necessary for retention and behavior change. While our presentations can be given as single sessions, they are designed to build off each other and will have a greater impact together. Implementation of the full 3 part series may be spread out in any succession - either over the course of a singular week or over the course of the semester or year.

Standard Presentations:

What is sexual violence? What does consent have to do with sexual violence? Why is sexual violence so common and what can we do about it?
By the end of the workshop, students will be able to:
1. Identify different forms of sexual/interpersonal violence.
2. Define consent and identify different scenarios where/when consent is needed in daily life
3. Give examples of how to give, request, receive, and deny consent
4. Understand who can and cannot legally consent to sex
45-90 minutes. Designed for high school audiences; adaptable for all.

What makes a relationship healthy? How do I understand my own boundaries and communicate them to others?
By the end of this workshop, students will be able to:
Identify how power and control is used in abusive relationships
Know one’s rights and responsibilities as they pertain to sexual health and relationships
Communicate assertively about their emotions, boundaries, and concerns in relationships
Identify red and green flags within different kinds of relationships
Understand how the intersectionality of identities can complicate power dynamics within relationships
45-90 minutes. Designed for high school audiences; adaptable for all.

What might a world free from sexual violence look like? How can we help support survivors in our own lives? How can we intervene when we see harm taking place? What resources are in our community to help support survivors?
By the end of this workshop, students will be able to:
Identify strategies to be an active bystander
Identify local and national resources working to combat sexual violence and support survivors
Know where to seek trustworthy support services, be able to identify specific resources, and identify trusted adults.
Understand how to support survivors through affirming language
45- 90 minutes. Designed for high school audiences; adaptable for all.

Our classroom advocate program allows teachers to bring in a RCC staff member during challenging classroom conversations, such as exploring content in the book The Color Purple. We hope to empower teachers to engage their students in difficult conversations and provide students with resources.

Research shows that survivors of sexual violence are in every classroom. Therefore, our trauma-informed presenters emphasize self-care and provide youth and adults alike options for disengaging with the presentation if the content or activities become upsetting. Students deserve to learn and understand this vital information, and the RCC is committed to presenting it in a way that is evidence based, trauma informed, and developmentally appropriate.
We are happy to work with schools to create a more comprehensive plan for care. Our youth advocacy support is available to all students ages 12-18, and our youth advocates are happy to introduce themselves and/or speak to parents and administrators if desired. Education Fees
With some exceptions, including presentations to middle and high schools, RCC education is priced at the following hourly rate:
$90/hour ($90 minimum)
$75/hour ($75 minimum) for nonprofits and government agencies
Additional charges may apply outside Dane County
Please note that Chimera Self-Defense uses different rates.
We are committed to providing education wherever possible. If your organization does not have the funding for the rates specified above, please fill out our request form anyway - we will get back to you to discuss options!

Black & African-American Outreach
RCC created our Black Multicultural Outreach position with the goal of ensuring culturally responsive education & community representation, as well as maintaining continuity between outreach and client services.

Panels and Tabling
RCC staff are a valuable addition to panels at conferences, speaking engagements, movie screenings, and more – any time sexual violence is a topic, an RCC staff presence can advance understanding and enrich discussion.
