GameChanger Facilitator

Supervised by: Prevention & Education Specialist

Compensation: $15.33/hour

Hours: Minimum 6 hours per month

 

Rape Crisis Center’s (RCC) GameChangers Youth Advisory Board is committed to empowering youth to engage in activism, change the culture of sexual violence, and foster progress across Dane County. A group of students will be selected as GameChangers for the 2019-2020 school year, some new to the program while others are returning from last year. Participants will work together to educate themselves and their fellow board members about various aspects of activism and some of the root causes of sexual violence, later addressing these issues through projects and presentations to community members. The focus will be on social justice, primary prevention, rape culture, and the intersectionality of oppressions within sexual violence.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Prevention & Education Specialist facilitating all GameChangers meetings and gatherings
  • Help students plan and execute long term community projects, assisting in problem solving and adherence to a work plan
  • Coordinate and lead individual meetings when assisting long term small group work
  • Serve as a point of contact for the Prevention & Education specialist, fellow facilitators, and GameChangers
  • Abide by Rape Crisis Center policies and expectations, procedures, and standards of conduct, including our mandated reporting policy

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Robust understanding of social justice issues and intersecting oppressions, or an active willingness to learn
  • Willingness and ability to engage in difficult conversations about toxic social norms and constructs, with passion and empathy
  • Commitment to improving our community’s understanding of sexual violence and healing
  • Strong ability to relate to and connect with teens with no judgment or superiority complex
  • Commitment to attending all meetings
  • Strong desire to advocate for radical activism
  • Facilitation experience preferred
